FINAL EXPENSE INSURANCE

Final Expense Insurance to Help Protect Your Family From the Bills You Leave Behind

Final expense insurance is permanent life insurance designed to leave money to a beneficiary for funeral costs, medical bills, debts and other final expenses. King Life compares multiple carriers so the policy can be matched to the applicant rather than forcing everyone into one company.

Focused final-expense help

Want to move from education to actual burial-insurance prices?

Immediate Burial Insurance is King Life's focused final-expense site. Use it when you want to compare burial-insurance pricing and start the quote process; stay here when you want the broader life-insurance context first.

Quotes are estimates, not offers of coverage. Final rates, benefits and eligibility are determined by the issuing insurance company.

What is final expense insurance?

Final expense coverage is commonly structured as smaller whole life insurance with simplified underwriting. Many plans use health questions and other underwriting information instead of a traditional medical exam.

What I compare first

  • Immediate vs graded or limited benefit
  • Health questions and carrier underwriting fit
  • Premium structure
  • Coverage amount and budget
  • Beneficiary flexibility
  • Any waiting-period or graded-benefit provisions

Is burial insurance the same as a prepaid funeral plan?

No. Final expense or burial insurance is life insurance. The death benefit is generally paid to the beneficiary, who can use it for funeral expenses, medical bills, debts, household costs or other needs. A prepaid funeral contract is a different arrangement tied to funeral goods or services.

Can I qualify with health problems?

Possibly. Carriers do not all underwrite the same way. A condition that creates a problem with one carrier may be treated differently by another, and some applicants may have access to graded or limited-benefit designs.

How much coverage should I consider?

There is no universal amount. Start with funeral or memorial costs, medical bills, small debts, short-term household expenses and the amount you would like to leave behind.

Final expense vs term life

Option Typical use Key difference
Final expense End-of-life costs and modest legacy needs Often permanent with simplified underwriting
Term life Larger temporary needs such as income replacement or mortgage protection Coverage lasts for a stated term
Pre-need funeral contract Specific funeral goods or services Not life insurance
