Life insurance

Life insurance should solve a specific financial problem—not just produce a quote.

Term protection, permanent coverage, indexed universal life, final expense and business-owned coverage are built for different jobs. The first step is deciding what must be protected, for how long, and what flexibility matters.

Start with the job

What does the policy need to do?

A policy can be affordable and still be wrong for the goal. These four questions narrow the conversation before carrier names and illustrations take over.

PROTECT NOW

Replace income or cover debt

Often a defined-period need: family income, mortgage, education, debt or a temporary business obligation.

PROTECT LONG TERM

Create permanent protection

Legacy, estate liquidity, final expenses and other needs that may not disappear on a fixed date.

BUILD FLEXIBILITY

Evaluate cash-value designs

Permanent policies can build cash value, but funding, charges, guarantees, assumptions and ongoing management matter.

REVIEW WHAT EXISTS

Understand the policy you own

Before replacing or surrendering coverage, review guarantees, values, loans, beneficiaries, costs and the original purpose.

The major structures

Life insurance is not one product.

The right comparison includes duration, guarantees, premium flexibility, cash value, underwriting and what happens if your circumstances change.

Life insurance FAQ

Questions worth answering before an application.

How much life insurance do I need?+

There is no universal multiple. Start with income replacement, debts, mortgage, education, final expenses, existing assets, existing coverage, spouse needs and the length of the obligation.

Should I replace an existing policy?+

Not without a side-by-side review. A replacement can restart surrender periods, require new underwriting and give up guarantees or benefits that cannot be recreated.

Does indexed universal life invest directly in the stock market?+

No. Indexed crediting is determined by a policy formula linked to an external index. Caps, participation rates, spreads, charges and policy terms affect actual results.
